GORKY PARK - Martin Cruz Smith

Gorky Park is the novel that launched Martin Cruz Smith's acclaimed Arkady Renko series. It begins with a triple murder in Moscow's Gorky Park: three corpses found frozen in the snow, their faces and fingers removed to prevent identification. Chief homicide investigator Arkady Renko - brilliant, cynical, and incorruptible - must identify the victims and uncover the truth behind the killings, battling the KGB, the FBI and a ruthless, well-connected American fur dealer. Along the way he falls for a headstrong dissident for whom he risks everything. A vivid, atmospheric portrait of life behind the Iron Curtain, Gorky Park became a #1 bestseller and was adapted into a 1983 film. Published by Simon and Schuster UK, paperback, 592 pages.
