Close to Home - Cara Hunter

When eight-year-old Daisy Mason disappears from her family's Oxford home during a costume party, Detective Inspector Adam Fawley suspects what statistics confirm in nine cases out of ten: the person responsible is someone close to home. The Masons are an unsettling family -- a mother obsessed with keeping up appearances, a father who turns cold and evasive under questioning, and a withdrawn younger brother who seems to know more than he says. As Fawley races against the clock with no trace of Daisy and no witnesses coming forward, it becomes clear that everyone on the quiet suburban street is hiding a secret. Close to Home is the first novel in Cara Hunter's bestselling DI Fawley crime series, praised as 'gripping' by Ian Rankin and selected for the Richard & Judy Book Club in 2018.
